The BTEC Professional Diploma in Rehabilitation Studies (Visual Impairment)...

As the only specialised, professional organisation providing sub-contracted services to statutory agencies Provision Solutions is uniquely placed to meet the needs of teams delivering rehabilitative programmes to people with a visual impairment.

This specialism, coupled with many years experience of teaching Diploma courses in the UK, has led to the creation of the first BTEC Professional Diploma in Rehabilitation Studies - a course specifically designed to address the national shortage of suitably qualified staff to work with people who are visually impaired.

This nationally recognised and award nominated qualification has been specifically designed for:

  • 'Assistant' Rehabilitation Workers
  • Care Managers
  • Social Workers
  • Occupational Therapists
  • Sensory Team Managers
  • Aspiring Rehabilitation Workers
  • Care Workers
  • Volunteers
  • Anyone looking to improve their knowledge of this vital field of work

If you are 'unqualified' in this field of work, or simply looking to change the focus of your career then this course is for you.

Structure: The course is modular with 6 x 6 week units spread over the year; Each unit requires approximately 15 hours per week study time, although this depends greatly on your experience. In addition, you are required to attend lectures, produce written assignments and undertake practical observations click here to view the structure and assessments

Academic level: This is a level 4 qualification academically accredited by Edexcel and delivered by nationally recognised experts. It not only provides students with the specialist knowledge they need but also the important practical skills to enable them to deliver rehabilitative services to people with a visual impairment. It is delivered within the workplace enabling the client group to receive a professional service from the onset.

Entry criteria: Students will usually be employed either full-time or part-time or as an unpaid 'volunteer' in a local authority or voluntary agency but in all cases must have regular access to people requiring sight loss services. While they will benefit from the peer support of a qualified Rehabilitation Worker (RW) who can act as a 'mentor' through their studies this is not essential.

At the end? On completion of the course, successful students will be able to undertake professional holistic assessments of people with a visual impairment and deliver practical, effective, rehabilitative intervention in indoor mobility, activities of daily living and communications.

Fees: The course fees are £3600 +VAT per student - 'easy payment options' are available. The fees include the student handbook and all course materials - there are no additional payments.
